My newest veh has a feature whereby if I report it stolen, its current location will be transmitted to authorities AND if in motion, max speed will be reduced to 20mph until it stops for whatever reason. After that it's disabled. Since it also has local speed limits transmitted to it thru GPS and a database, it would be simple to link that info to the throttle-by-wire and prevent me from exceeding local speed limits. Just heard today that the gubmint is working on exactly that. Automakers are apparently not enthusiastic. Since most new veh have this capability built in (but not necessarily enabled-requires subscription to actually use consumer features) I expect to see it sooner rather than later.
