Simon, Dave is the expert to ask, but my experience suggests that you can. You can certainly use the active output stage. I used a modified RAKK MkI power supply (larger transformer and more filter capacitance) for the MkII. For the MkIII I used the same ps with a larger heat sink on the 3 pin reg. I am using the I2S board with it and it works fine. Photo shows the modified ps and the MkIII were the MkII sat.
