I'm using Kevin's cascode kit. It's the "tail" for a differential driver stage biased at 40ma, 20ma/side, so battery sourcing isn't appropriate. Also, since it is direct coupled to the input stage, it's dropping ~150V, so negative supply isn't needed. I am in the process of replacing the single JFET on the input stage common cathode with a cascode DN2540. That will require the use of a negative supply. A battery sounds interesting. After talking with Kevin, his experience is that extreme mesures with this supply won't yield much difference. Changing batteries with my amps would be a hassle, so I think I'm go with a simple bridge/cap PS.
