Hi - I was sort of the alpha tester for this circuit. I'm using a very similar circuit to sink 300mA from 4 KT-120s operating class A triode PPP. While I haven't had a tube short, I have had an output tube arc. Scared the sh*t out of my cat who was next to the amp at the time. :D After it stopped arcing the amp continued to play music as if nothing had happened. If you use this circuit with both output tubes's cathodes connected without a bypass cap like I do you will loose a lot of output power (output restricted to class A). On the other hand, using a bypass cap will kind of negate the advantage of using a high impedance current source.
