Home Jazz Alley

From Louis Armstrong to Charlie Parker to the new greats of today, this is the place for Jazz!

The News reports were disappointing.

No details at all beyond he got stuck.
You'd have to drive down the tracks, not just over them for that to happen.
Did he Stall?
Where were the Crossing gates?
How long was he there before the 2 trains went through?
The Gates go down well ahead of the arrival of the Trains.
And it was Downtown Burlingame, Crossing Gates would have HAD to be in place.
I didn't know him personally,
but I went to hear him in SF, and was a great Bird/Cannonball Player.
He even had Cannonball's King Alto and Meyer Mouthpiece with the metal band at the end.
Andrew worked with Nat Adderley at one point.
Taught at SF State.
I hope I'm not out of line in thinking he panicked and froze.
I'm sure I would, as the seconds cliucked by.
