I saw this film tonight. If you have any interest at all in this music and if it's in your area, just go see it. Cecil Taylor, John Coltrane, Eric Dolphy, Ornette Coleman, Albert Ayler are all well represented, as well as many others. I think the film did justice to this remarkable music, given the limits imposed by film length.

After the screening there was a q&a with the film's director, Tom Sturgal, and a drummer who played with Cecil Taylor and the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Thurman Barker. Among other things he talked about what it was like to play with Cecil Taylor. Great stuff.
