Silver and Evans

I recently discovered several 5cd sets of albums by various (dead) jazz
artists for a bargain price - $20, more of less. So I bought some: 5
of Bill Evans' Verve albums and 5 of Horace Silver's Blue Note albums.
I've played all of the Silver and 4 or the 5 Evans discs. To say that I
am wildly disappointed is an understatement. Silver and his groups seem
to favor the higher-faster-louder school of playing. Evans seems to favor
music to make you catatonic. But maybe I just don't understand what these
guys were trying to do. You might.
