Home Jazz Alley

From Louis Armstrong to Charlie Parker to the new greats of today, this is the place for Jazz!

I agree with much if what you've written

as much as you're using group interplay and improv as a basis of your definition of Jazz. And I agree wholeheartedly that Jazz is difficult to define as we all have our own definition of what Jazz is.

Not familiar with Swing or Big Band as those types within the Jazz umbrella have never been of any interest to me, personally.

But if you're using group interplay as part of your definition, you'll not find many recordings, or artists for that matter, that will fit into a part of your definition of Jazz since nowadays and in many years past groups don't play together live to create the recording.

It would be cool if they did, though.
