Home Jazz Alley

From Louis Armstrong to Charlie Parker to the new greats of today, this is the place for Jazz!

RE: How can you make such statements as yours as fact?

Your post came across, at least to me, as a snobbish traditional Jazz is the only Jazz mentality that simply dismisses anything else that falls within the huge umbrella that is Jazz.

Just because you and your fellow musicians are of the opinion that anyone who plays contemporary Jazz isn't really a Jazz musician means absolutely nada to those of us who do enjoy the likes of Jeff Lorber Fusion, Fourplay, Yellowjackets, Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, Al Di Meola, Sadao Watanabe, Weather Report, Tribal Tech and on and on and on.

And, quite frankly, I really don't care what the folks who frequent this forum think of the Jazz I love. Yes, it is Jazz. Just because you don't consider it Jazz doesn't make it not Jazz.
