A couple years ago I wanted a sub that would keep up with my Altec A7s,so I built 8 1.6cu ft(internal volume)sealed boxes, each with a 12" HSU AS1202 woofer.Stacked 4 per side,500 w/ch.Sounded great, but I really wanted a horn....So I built a LABhorn. The LABhorn left the sealed subs in the dust.Far more output with only a few watts.I used to think the term "bass transient" was an oxymoron, but hearing the horn changed that. Not sure exactly how to describe it,but the horn just has a more effortless sound, with more impact.
All those woofers take up about the same space as the horn, and weigh and cost more,so unless you already have the woofers,or just can't fit a horn,I would recommend a horn.
May the Bass be with you!
