Newbee question: I am gaining experience with my first sub / sat speaker system, specifically optimizing the crossover. At first, I used a 4th order low-pass only on the sub, and drove the satellites full range, even though the satellites roll-off ~80 Hz. Next, I used the crossover on the plate amp to high-pass the satellites, also with a 4th order. This helped remove some overlap and muddiness in the mid bass. I want to try a simple 1st order high-pass filter instead of the active 4th order. Can I simply insert the proper cap in series before the amp input? My goal is to gain phase benefits of a 1st order filter, while still controlling overlap with the sub. Thanks much,
scott
