Re: LAB Horn Subwoofer

I use a LABhorn in my HT/music system, firing out of a corner closet at the back of my room. The response will be determined more by the room resonances than the horn.I ran some response curves with the sub in various locations. The best was with the cabinet pointed into the corner at 45 degrees,at a distance of 30 inches.Totally impractical for my situation, but with the horn against the wall, facing into the corner at a distance of 29"(per Tom Danley's recommendation) the response was very similar.I don't have the figures handy at the moment, but as I recall,it was very flat from 100 hz to 20 hz(the lower limit of my sig gen)with two broad 10 db peaks at 35 and 70 hz(room resonances?).At 20 hz it was back to the ref level at 100hz.

Playing music or movies,I get a reading of about 105 db when the 4 watt output LED on my amp just flickers, and pumping the full 800 watts of my amp into it(400 w/driver) will knock things off of shelves in adjacent rooms!

My walls are 1/2" drywall,so your brick walls should be much better.

With so much headroom,if you wanted to EQ,shouldn't be a problem getting a flat response.Even without EQ,it puts the "toy" HT subwoofers to shame with it's clean, undistorted, effortless output.

Go for it...you won't be disappointed!!!
