Eminence LAB 12 drivers

Hi all,

I purchased a pair of LAB 12 drivers to be utilized in my LAB horn project. Just for kicks, I placed one in a bass reflex enclosure. The dimensions are: 2.75 cubic feet w/ two 4 inch ports 20 inches in length. The bass is amazing. The driver is not terribly efficient, but given enough wattage, it really sings. The lower octaves just pound like crazy! I disconnected my large left channel bass horn and was again amazed at the amount of bass the LAB 12 produced. This driver is not EQed either. The LAB 12's first octave is much, much stronger than my left channel bass horn. Efficiency aside, I can give the bass horn more gain and it still won't out perform the LAB 12 in the bass reflex enclosure! With the bass horn still disconnected I discovered that the LAB 12 was pulling a great deal of the bass. In fact, the bass is so omnidirectional that I can hear it combining with the left channel hf horns. It fooled my ears into thinking that the left channel had the bass horn running when in fact it didn't.

I would have bet the farm against the concept that this driver can perform this well. Yes, this is one sweet driver.

Bass horns vs. bass reflex..... Now I'm really confused..........

It would by nice to see this driver gather popularity. It deserves a long production life.
