Everything creates phase shift, even plain wire. It's of no consequence, since you can't hear it unless you have two drivers that are at or close to 180 degrees apart, which, BTW, is exactly what results from using 2nd order high pass/2nd order low pass passive crossovers.

Wherever it was that you read that strike the address from your bookmarks, they don't know what they're talking about.
