HornResp can model the throat size for maximum sensitivity or maximum band width or anything in between. As for the Klipsch rubber throat, he was following Olson's example of using a short rapid flare horn segment at the throat, which then coupled to a longer less rapid flare horn segment. Olson took this to an extreme. I recall seeing a horn he designed that used at least five segments, each longer with a less rapid flare than the one before it. You can model this in HornResp as well, up to four segments. Klipsch also made different versions of the KHorn baffle, one where the baffle opening was smaller than the actual throat. This gave better bass response by lowering the resonant frequency of the throat chamber. As I recall this was the actual topic of the SB articles by Bruce.
