RE: So I'm a fooking idiot...

I can't see using an EVM 15-L for a bass horn. The 'L' stands for lead, as in lead guitar, as opposed to 'B' for bass guitar. It's not about the high frequency response of the two, it's about the lows. One might be inclined to think that since they have the same 43Hz Fs that they would have equivalent low frequency capability, but it's the 0.25 Qes of the 15-L that chokes off the low end compared to the 0.3 Qes of the 15-B which is responsible for the different results.

The Kappa 15-C is considerably stronger in the upper mids than either EV, with a nasty 107dB break up mode spike at 1.8kHz, but between the low pass function of a horn and the crossover in practice it's not an issue. It also has a very low Qes of 0.25, but that's offset by an equally low Fs of 31Hz.

These examples only scratch the surface of why one cannot consider only a few driver and horn specs to predict how it will work. HornResp requires a minimum of nineteen data entries to calculate a result.
