My system has no problems with low frequency imaging. I can locate bass instruments or LF effects coming from the left, center or right, or from the surrounds. This is in spite of the fact that my sub sits a foot behind my listening position, while my L/C/R are some twelve feet in front of me. Frequencies with wavelengths short enough to be directionally located don't come from the sub, they come from the L/C/R. For the same reason I'm never aware of the sub position, even at 120dB levels.
