If you are missing "air", you just need a SUPERtweeter, something that would add information and level above roughly 10KHz or 15KHz... while I don't know your speakers, it is safe to bet that the crossover frequency between the "high frequency driver" and the woofer is, in fact, somewhere around 1KHz, which is the midrange.
Don't touch that. You'd mess up everything. Just use an additional very high frequency tweeter of your choice.
