It's been well documented many times that the EV 30 just wasn't a good driver. One shortcoming was the use of polystyrene foam for the cone, another was that the frame was far too weak to handle the weight of the motor, so it was prone to coil rub. But the main problem was that in the recommended sealed alignment it required a 22 cu ft for a 40Hz Fsc, ranging up to 300 cu ft for a 20Hz Fsc. In 1975 Don Keele designed the EVTL303 ported cab for it, which could be tuned at 18 or 25Hz. It was a mere 76 cu ft. That's not surprising, considering its 210 cu ft Vas. Despite its massive Sd it had a short 3.8mm xmax, so Vd was only 1400 cc. That's no more than a modern fifteen inch sub driver, which can provide more output from a box 1/10 the size.
