Home High Efficiency Speaker Asylum

Need speakers that can rock with just one watt? You found da place.

RE: Efficiency and Sensitivity are two valid measurements with different meanings.

What anyone did before Thiele/Small was pretty much whatever they wanted to, but along with the rest of the driver parameters they defined efficiency, which is parameter No. Most speaker modeling software will calculate it from the other parameters. As for efficiency vis a vis spec sheets, very few quote it. That's because it's not considered when modeling drivers, so there's no reason to need it. One source that does list efficiency is JBL on their THIELE SMALL LOW FREQUENCY DRIVER PARAMETERS AND DEFINITIONS pdf. Interestingly they don't call it by the spec No, they list it as EFF, but qualify what that means by stating Reference efficiency no (half-space acoustic load).
