I've used used both 50W of very low impedance Metaxas SS power and 2.5W of quality SE 2A3 power into my GPA 604 loaded into circa 300L MLTLs. The Metaxas provides vice-like grip for a dynamic, taut, slightly mechanical kind of sound; perhaps over-damped. The 2A3 provides a balanced, flowing, foot-tapping sound, perhaps with greater musically-relevant detail.
Both are fine but different.
It really does depend on the driver and the cabinet. A low mechanical loss, low QTS driver in a quality cabinet designed for high impedance drive is just fine with a high output impedance amp.
