Speaking in my official capacity as a Geezer I can tell you it is not only possible to design good speaker alignments, but also damned fine ones, without the help of any computer. Back in the 1980s I used driver's T/S parameters and the Keele electronic calculator method found in "How to Design, Build and Test Complete Speaker Systems" by Weems. Volume of the enclosure, F3, tuning frequency, frequency response, length of the port, etc. could all be determined. All that is needed is a calculator that can handle fractional exponents and a lot of time.Even easier was using the charts and formulae found in Vance Dickason's "Loudspeaker Design Cook Book". These methods were fine for ported and sealed enclosures. If you wish to design horns from scratch let a computer be your friend.
Re: your original question look at the 15" Dayton woofers from Parts Express. They are good value for the $, and one might suit your needs.
I dream of an America where a chicken can cross the road without having it's motives questioned.
