I recall that in the 60s, John Crabbe, then the editor of Hi Fi News designed horn bass units to build into the corners of a room in his home. They were almost straight and built from concrete because the designer feared they would be too resonant. He was too correct. The concrete rang and he had to reinforce the horns even more.
