I wouldn't use a direct radiating fifteen for only above 80Hz, nor would I go from 80Hz to only 900Hz. The largest direct radiating woofer I'd use might be a twelve inch, though I prefer multiple smaller drivers to realize wider horizontal dispersion along with vertical pattern control. My personal home theater system uses four inch midbasses and 3/8 inch dome tweeters in a line array.
