Neither 2 nor 3 prong plugs cause ground loops. Unbalanced connections do. They're more of a problem today because systems tend to have more components today, each adding another connection that can contribute to noise. The simple fix is to use only balanced connections, pro-sound made that SOP forty years ago. That's why you can go to a concert where there are racks and racks of gear and amps and never a ground loop heard.
