RE: is it just me or...

That was a perfectly understandable response back in 1985, when the research necessary to use T/S specs to predict horn response had not yet been undertaken. Bill Leach, Don Keele and others were probably starting to do so back then, but I don't recall seeing T/S specs other than Fs used in horn design before the 1990s.
