makes perfect sense - knew I was missing something.
For a given power output (Wattage), increasing impedance decreases current draw and increases voltage; voltage is responsible for acoustic output.
Charts of operating points, power, distortion and load show higher loads reducing power. So, if the speaker impedance increases, the reflected load on the tube also increases, hence reducing power output (Wattage). I assume although the power output decreases slightly, voltage still increases noticeably increase acoustic output.
Or am I confusing different concepts? Time to read up on this... after my pending amp build.
