Being a horn lover/ owner I have yet to hear the Everest speakers sound like I would want to own them. I have heard them several times at the Rocky Mountain shows, ( using Mark Levinson electronics--YUK!!! ) at the VPI owners home in N.J. and was always disappointed. It must be the set up location as I cannot understand why such a speaker using excellent drivers never impressed me. I have only heard the newer versions of the Everest ( $80K a few years ago in a special rosewood type finish ).
Little off topic:
I heard the "new" Klipschorns at CES 2 weeks ago and can tell you they were EXCELLENT !!!. They used Cary SLP-05 preamp and 805 set monoblocks with 845 tubes, analog and digital sources. I made 3 visits to the demo room just to make sure the great sound was not a one time fluke. In rosewood, they cost $16k and sounded better then anything near their price range. Typical horn life, clarity and dynamics---what proper horn speakers should sound like.
