bonzo,
My friend is the U.S,A dealer for Cessaro and also has the List speakers set up at his loft. They are excellent speakers. When you get up to speakers with this much resolution, the entire chain of electronics is under a microscope---and the sound can be quite subjective. No speaker or electronic component is "perfect" so one persons perception of the systems sound my be entirely different from another persons. I have heard several Tron and TW-acoustic SET amps that sound stellar on the List speakers. My friend tells me that the sound of the List speakers has changed over a 1 year period--- for the better as they break in--and yes, a significant difference.
I have heard various Avantgarde speakers over the years at audio shows and I did not like the sound--they almost always bothered my ears !!! However this was under show (demo)conditions and were usually played very loud. I am sure a properly set up Trio system in a good room would sound great. I can't afford any of these monster horn systems so I made my own, and can tell you that mine sound about as good as any of theirs !!! and for MUCH less money.
