RE: Internal speaker wire

Bill, thanks for the link to the Roger Russell website. It very much confirms what my ears have been telling me for the last forty years or so.

One problem my home made speaker cables used have with some of my fellow audiophiles is that just like Rodney Dangerfield they got no respect. I solved this problem by buying good quality 18 gauge solid core wire with two different bright colors of polypropylene insulation. I would combine from four to six strands of the wire for each leg or conductor of the cables. After combining the strands I would give them a slight twist by clamping one end of the wires in my bench vise and the other end in a variable speed electric drill motor. After making up the two conductors I work them through an appropriate diameter of clear vinyl tubing from the plumbing dept. at Home Depot or the such so that the cables ending up looking really big and fat. I use plastic heat shrink tubing and good quality gold plated spade lugs to terminate them as professionaly looking as possible.

After that I made up my own bullshit theory of esoteric high end speaker cable construction, and suddenly snobby audiophiles not only loved the sound but also held me in high regard for being so knowledgeable. Just goes to show.
I dream of an America where a chicken can cross the road without having it's motives questioned.
