An exception to this is corner horn woofers. I use the Bill Fitzmaurice designed HT Tuba 1/8 wave corner horn woofers and get excellent response down to 20Hz after equalization (subtractive only) with a DEQX HDP-3. I sacrifice about seven or eight dB of efficiency to equalize as I do. This brings their sensitivity down to 97 or 98dB @2.83V @ 1m.
