Hi joshk,
It sounds great with the Faital driver! I am not sure that a tractrix curvature will be better than the one you are suggesting. Given that you will use a waveguide in the upper register, I think you will come to appreciate the constant directivity over a large frequency range that you can achieve by this combo.
I will suggest you use a fairly large throat (close to SD) for the Faital.
