Hi Joshk,
The mid horn in the picture above is conical, fairly easy to make, and loads down to app. 160 Hz in half-space with the right driver (e.g. an 8" Fane Studio 8M).
Relative to the 142 Hz tractrix you loose some efficiency, but on the other hand you will have constant directivity - at least in the upper register.
