Agree. I used 1/4 molding because this is all my router could handle. I also used red oak along the perimeter and as the guide for the router for the bottom exhaust. The whole enclosure is built with 3/4 birch ply and then veneered with 1/4 birch ply. I regularly tip folks at the shop I buy plywood from and they allow me to choose sheets with the nicest grain pattern.
