You will lose the top end of a cone loaded on a horn.
The mass is too great to load past 8kHz.
This is because the throat of the horn is much too large, relative to the higher frequencies.
You have to have a throat diameter which is relative to the highest frequency to be reproduced. You can get away with a 2" throat to 14Kz but directivity will suffer.
This is why compression drivers exist.. big motor, small mass, small opening.
RCA was the master of cone/horn drivers- 7khz was about the best they could do.... with a phasing plug on a big magnet 6" driver.
