Built the cabinets out og 3/4 mdf and covered in
mahogany veneer. Made the mistake of rounding off
the front baffle which made the veneering all that much harder!
Still they look ok if ya don't look too close.
Found the box in the basement, veneered it too with a couple of coats of poly, modded the T-amp and with my burl boxed Bugle phono pre looks and sounds pretty good.
Listening to The Doors box set right now,(Waiting for the Sun, side 2)
and it sounds great! Turntable is a Micro Seiki DD-24 with a 2M Red cartridge (which was the most expensive part of the system!) and everything together probably came to under $700.
