Hi John,
Thanks again for your thorough reply! I know the specs for the Fane isn't complete - and also that different numbers are given at different sites for the sensitivity of the driver. I have not had a chance to measure the Fane driver myself, and have not been able to locate complete specs either. However, I am quite confident that the sensitivity of the driver is 101 dB/1Watt, not 91 dB/1watt. If I remember correctly, then JLH states that the sensitivity of the Fane in his 115 Hz tractrix horns is 108/109 db/1 watt.
One final and quite different option I have thought a lot about is to use a pair of vintage JBL 2482 (phenolics) on a pair of large 140 Hz tractrix horns currently sold by the German manufacturer StereoLab (see link). On paper, the 2482 on these horn should load down to 190 Hz, but some people state that it will not. And if it only will load to about 250 Hz or so, then I would prefer the 'cone driver' route!
BTW, I find it really cool that you have made your own drivers!
Kind regards
Peter
