I have been at it for 30 years. The speakers mentioned above are part of hundreds of speakers- maybe thousands, I have built or tested, and to this day, the Lowther ( and other high BL light cone drivers) have a unique clarity in the voice.
I still like them after 20 years. ( Lowther PM^, and PM2 )
Aside from a little " cone cry" they are one of my favorites.
I have used them on a large tractrix basshorn ( 5x5x7 feet), and the cello area is my benchmark on bass clarity.
