I have tested the Mantaray CD horn Vs the 511b.
The CD horn has considerably smoother directivity. It measures the same on or off axis.
The exponential flare radial has a natural eq increasing the output past 6kHz. This is at the expense of the horrible throat geometry- look at the design off the RCA radial throat.
The first 30% of the horn throat determines the sound of any horn. The more you squeeze or bend it, the worse it is.The big JBL biradial's have too much of a “slot" which colors the sound. So the Mantaray will produce better results. Of course no squeezing is the best. You can "pinch" the throat or make an elliptical throat without a deleterious effect.
Best, Bill
