Home High Efficiency Speaker Asylum

Need speakers that can rock with just one watt? You found da place.

Sol 5.0s and Coincident Triumph...which one should I get?

I've been looking for a pair of high efficiency speakers for my 12W per channel tube amp (the Cyclops). My current monitors sound OK (86dB/4ohms) in my small to medium listening room, but can't help myself wondering whether I'm missing something with these inefficient speakers. Besides, they are due for a change as I've had them for over eight years now.

My budget is $1,200 max (new or used) and I've narrowed my search down to two models: Soliloquy 5.0s and Coincident Triumph Signature. They both have received rave reviews and are surely very good speakers. Sol 5.0s can be had with less money (through factory B-stock offer, etc.), but some says they slightly lack the dynamism the Triumph have. I'm not too sure about this, and I'm not worried about the bass either as I have a subwoofer. Any suggestions/opinions? I would like to hear a direct comparison between these two, but would also much appreciate your inputs and recommendations of other speakers. Thanks you for your time.
