I have found that a range of 45deg to 80deg works the best. Once the angle gets past 80 deg, you run into low end loading problems- even if you make the mouth bigger.You should see this in simulations.
The one you are building should have nice extended low end- not much resonance- it will sound like a little like a Quad, and very good in the voice.
I think more work on driver design like Cogent is required to balance low end output Vs dispersion.
