Here are the tests I did a while ago on horn throats . It is worth noting that if you fool with the mouth flare, and throat simultaneously, you can smooth out the response in the 8khz area-on and off axis. (even at the dreaded 10 degrees off axis area )With the case in hand, a 45 degrees horn is narrow, that you don't need much coupling anyway.
I have found that various flare combinations can be applied to different targets to achieve a slightly better result. IMO there is no one best flare- depends on the job and the driver.Hope this helps, Bill
