My new bass horn...

When I had a 60" rptv, the size of the LABhorn was not a problem, since it was behind the tv. When I got a front projector, the 45" height of the LAB limited my picture to about 100" diag.Damn,if I only had a 9' ceiling!....

After considering many alternatives,(pull down screen, cutting holes in wall, different sub, etc, etc,) I decided to see if I could come up with an alternative folding that would work like the LAB,but be a foot shorter in height. This will give me a 126" picture.

Using the original specs,1/8 space 26.4 hz,hyp.5, 80 sq in mouth, etc,in the Melhuish calculator resulted in a cabinet that would be 48" long,33"high,and 30" deep.Seeing as how the 30" depth could be a problem getting through some doors,I decided to make 2 cabinets, with one driver each, one half of the 28" internal depth.

I have built 2 cabinets so far,to see how they sound, before building another pair for stereo bass.As you can see from the photo,no expense or effort was expended to make them look nice...that will come later.

I was planning to build four of these, but with the insane output capability,I will build an extension to double the mouth size to see how that works with a single driver for each channel. I don't think I will ever miss the 3 db less output.I'm sure my neighbors won't!:-)

I will post the plans once I get a legible version drawn up.

Oh! I almost forgot...It sounds like a LABhorn!
