I had the opportunity be at Cyrus Brenneman’s house and to hear the combination of his Cavalier plus amp (K100 SET integrated) and Bruce Edgar’s Edgarhorn Titan’s with a pair of Edgarhorn Seismic subs (the size of refrigerators). The first thing that stuck me when the system was turned on was that it was silent! No hum at all from 106 dB speakers. When the music started – WOW! – that’s all I can say. The sound was so full, rich and dynamic. Female voices to die for with all the inner detail and richness you could hope for. I heard a CD by the truly amazing Fairfield Four, a male gospel group with deep rich voices that were right there in the room. Finally a Sheffield Lab CD of drums that was felt in the chest as much as heard with the ears. This system could not only rock the house, but also the house next door. But, it wasn’t just the volume but the dynamics of the bass that impressed me. This is a first row seat to the music that most of us only dream about. Now I get why folks are HORNy for this kind of setup.
If only my wife would let me fill one end of the living room with giant wooden objects she could hear her favorite singer, Randy Travis, in person right in front of her. One can always dream.
