Hi Tomback in the 1980's owned Aiwa and Sansui 14 bit rated pcm then Sony 501ES - the Aiwa seemed least problematic and would record a CD (with analoge input) to sound pretty much like a CD but when it came to copying an LP such as Johnny otis show live, lost ambiance retrieval - Sony when recording a live slop-band didn't play back what came from outputs - guess expect too much. Some modern CD seem half way decent - others imcuding 'audiophile' labels had a metallic 'spittle'(never saw any metion in reviews) - nice thing about rap - some of it is 'digital-ready' with DD5 quality samples
are you sticking with LC boost and vented? - trying to think what might work for jaded MAGNETAR's 2235 - have seen sim of low-pass set at fb for vented 2235 - ~flat from 10-40hz
