Agree that with default Altec , Klipschorn horns it's pretty easy to hear "tuba" sound on classical although they can be astonishingly good (I heard that couple of times ) with Jazz ,rock concert recordings. It is not possible to get the sensational midbass ,upperbas presence with panel ,DR speakers, be it famed Quad and there is no question (at least to me ) that with proper amps and setup, horns are ultimate topology. I never heard system taking full advantage of technology and possibilities but the glimpses I heard on various occasions were enough. Altec 19 (which is hardly a horn)/K-horn are way to compromised (ie cheap) implementations to judge if horns are suitable for opera . In my opinion they are supremly suitable but hardly anybody can make them perform.
