You pr obably know me by now with my quasi first order xovers - I like to go straight to a horn mid-high as low as possible. If I'd found an 18" woofer I really liked a lot, I might have tried mating it (2 a side) to my TAD 4001's (good to 18K, - good enough most of the time - can always stick a supertweeter somewhere if I want) w/ cat-o-tract (nod to Earl Geddes) horn xovered at 300 hz. The K151 might be the closest, but I'm not really sold on the paper surround, and doesn't it have an overhung VC? If so, I'll probably stick with my K/E 145's and give up a little on ultimate bass extension/efficiency.Somebody recently linked to a site (from Australia, name escapes me) which had a number of observations which I thought were fairly cogent. Two which I think are less considered than most are that BR resonant peak bass can be thought of as 'artificial bass', and dweeb VC's let cones misbehave more. I don't reject BR - I prefer to push it down to semi-SW territory with LC boost and save the SW box - the LC infrasonic filter effect almost makes up for its boost wrt overall excursion.
