TomI can usually read just about any format so long as I know how the data is organzied, but text is certainly the best because I can read it and see the format directly.
I take data every 7.5 degrees with 2048 data points, sampling at 11050 Hz. But I interpolate the frequency data and do a 1/6 octave average so any frequency resolution works so long as its not too course. In my setup, which is in my living room (about 15 feet of ceiling height) I use a stand with a rotaing table that places the systems at the rooms mid point. I then place the microphone as far away as possible within the contraints of the room, which ends up being about 3 meters. So the mic is basicaly about 2 meters up and three meter back. This gives me a gated resolution down to about 200-300 Hz. Below this and only very large speakers would not be omnidirectional so a polar map is not of much use.
I believe that you are right about the 4 dB steps, but I can set this to anything. I use +2dB to -2dB as the design criteria, hence the 4 dB. My speakers are within this range from 50-10000 Hz and +- 22.5 degrees.
Let me know what you can provide.
