Speakers by themselves don't have a "sound." They don't make music until you feed a signal into them, so source, preamp and amp are important factors - factors which you haven't mentioned yet.Matching components is so critical - what did you try with the Avantgard's? Were your acoustics room more friendly to the Beauhorns?
Speakers are often the most subjective components in a system, but I'm not convinced that you gave them a fair trial unless you provide more details.
Words like "impressive" and "put to shame" don't tell us anything about your experiences - just that you "liked" them more - which, of course, is the only reason to choose a system or components.
I've only heard the AV Duos, and not the Beauhorns, but I'm waiting to hear more details about your experiences, what music you listened to, and how the music sounded.
