if you want musicality, the gpa 515c is extremely difficult to beat. additionally, it has a 16ohm version. the altec 515b can be equally great (altec fanatics think better). but finding a good pair. is an exercise in trying many and rejecting many. needless a lot of money and time (2+ years) needs to be spent. none of the jbl drivers i tried came close to the 515c. none of the better quality modern 15" drivers i tried were close to the gpa515c in musicality. note that most modern drivers are 8ohm which means that paralleling them would be risky or difficult.
